  • (October 5, 2015) CCCUA hosted area students on Friday, October 2, 2015 for Manufacturing Day, a nationwide initiative. Students were able to meet with local industry and business representatives to learn about manufacturing careers and the skills necessary to enter the manufacturing workforce. The purpose of Manufacturing Day is to introduce students to manufacturing-related careers and to address common misconceptions regarding manufacturing.
  • UA Cossatot faculty and staff welcomed guests to the newly remodeled and renovated Ashdown campus on October 14.  Friends of the college and industry partners were able to tour the new Industrial Maintenance Technology Department as well as new lab space and meeting facilities.
  • UA Cossatot is undergoing a major renovation of the 10,000 square footStudents in the Mechanical Devices class during the Fall semester using the new Mechanical Trainers purchased from Lab-Volt. Ashdown campus facility which houses the new Industrial Technology program. The renovated facility will include two large classrooms with computer workstations and LCD projectors, two spacious labs - one for Mechanical and Electrical and the other for HVAC and Electrical, as well as a break room for students and offices for instructors. Two MIG welders, a cutting torch, a drill press and a bench grinder will be included in the work area. The goal at UA Cossatot is to provide a work-type environment in a laboratory setting using state-of-the-art training equipment as well as actual equipment used in industry. Additionally, new Lab-Volt training equipment is expected to arrive in August to be used for the Mechanical Devices and Basic Electricity classes. (Pictured right are students in the Mechanical Devices class during the Fall 2014 semester using the new Mechanical Trainers purchased from Lab-Volt.)
  • Members from the UA Cossatot team recently toured the 26,000-square-foot Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing (RCAM) training facility in Kingsport, Tennessee. UA Cossatot team members were accompanied by Jimmy Ivers from Domtar, an industry partner. The state-of-the-art RCAM training facility features the latest simulators and flexible classrooms and utilizes much of the same training equipment which will be used for UA Cossatot's DOL-funded Industrial Technology program.
